filipino arroz ala cubana

This is a dish I enjoyed a lot growing up and would fuel me the entire day! The way family used to make it was with raisins and local Saba bananas. In my version I use dates and plantains which are more available in my area. So good, and ready in a couple of minutes!

You may be wondering why we have Arroz Ala Cubana, a popular dish in the Philippines! The author of Steak Simplified, Joan Tuaño Rumsey, is a proud filipina and wanted to share the flavors of her home country to the world with her book about their family enterprise, La Carne.

Book exclusive recipe! You can find it on Steak Simplified, our handbook/cookbook/memoir (page 136). Pre-order here.
